Is it possible for one of WWE’s most charismatic performers to make an unexpected return at Royal Rumble 2025? Fans of professional wrestling are full of anticipation, and rightly so. Nic Nemeth, widely recognized by WWE fans as Dolph Ziggler recently discussed his exit from WWE, his experiences in TNA, and the exciting possibility of a return to the Rumble.
In September 2023, Dolph Ziggler, whose real name is Nic Nemeth, ended his contract with WWE. Since his release, Nemeth has been gaining popularity in other shows, including Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), and World Series Wrestling (WSW). In a recent interview with The Daily Star, he explained his tough choice to depart despite having more than a year remaining on his contract.
“WWE was amazing to me,” Nemeth said. “But I reached a point where I was doing five-minute matches and just hanging out. I told them, ‘This isn’t helping me or the company. Let me go while I still have time to be a believable world champion elsewhere.’”
When asked about a potential Royal Rumble appearance, Nemeth said “A Rumble spot? Dude, that’s so cool,” he said with a grin. “To do something fun, wear my old trunks, get the old music to play, come out there, and kick somebody in the face? That would be awesome.”
Given the Royal Rumble’s history for surprising entrances and memorable situations, fans are eagerly watching whether Nic Nemeth will return to the WWE ring. Ziggler himself admitted that competing in the Rumble would be “so cool.” He expressed eagerness to return to the ring and even fight against some of the leading talents of today.
